Gift-Giving ‘Til It Hurts : McCormick’s Imports

If you’re anything like my mother, your Christmas shopping was completed by the end of September and this post need not apply. I’m not kidding, that woman is a holiday shopping machine. She single- handedly put the down-payment on Christmas  for all of us. What’s her secret? Shoppers Optimum 3x the points days. She saves ALL of her points (we can’t be related) until this day, heads to shoppers with a list the size of Santa’s, spends more money then I make in a year and makes it all back via her carefully collected optimum points. This woman is the eco- friendly extreme couponer ladies and gents. Lawyer by day, Optimum point collector by night. Myself on the other hand, when  told by the lady behind the counter that I have $5 on my points card  to use, I respond, without hesitation, that I would love to put it towards my purchase. I leave the store feeling like a Boss knowing that I just saved five whole dollars (ka-ching), whereas my my mum makes it rain by saving $1,500. There is no comparison.

So, for the rest of us who still have not understood the inner working of Optimum Points collection, I have another suggestion for you. My beautiful friend Jess McCormick has worked her butt off and recently opened a very clever boutique store on the Danforth named McCormick’s Imports. I am officially obsessed with this place. Visually stunning outside and in, it is the only store of its kind in the area with a strong UK- theme. Jess’ mum is a British citizen, so all the decor is inspired by her and modelled after her Grandmother’s refined taste. They also import items from Belgium, Denmark, Germany and other places around Europe creating a significantly different boutique shopping experience.

Unlike the Drake General Store, McCormick’s Imports is not ridiculously overpriced and offers items for everyone on your Christmas list. From Royal Doulton’s and sheep candles to bike repair kits and rice cubes, this shop has something for Mum, Dad, Big Bro & Lil Sis. Not to mention, there is a large selection of creams and cute little things from Ted Baker and Crabtree & Evelynn which are almost impossible to find elsewhere in the city all under one roof.

My favourite part, and perfect for the holiday seasons, are the customized gift baskets that you can design yourself in-store. Beautifully wrapped in ribbons of red and white, these baskets are such a unique way to spread some love and cheer this Winter. Imagine receiving a gift basket that includes gourmet pretzels, loose leaf tea, AND your very own pizza Peddler! I would self- destruct.

Here are some photos I snapped while visiting the store. I would write about the sweet things they have, but I know 90% of you only look at my blog for the pics. Here ya go:

You MUST go, it is more than worth the trek down the Danforth, and you can pick up some delicious Greek Gyro’s from Messini’s on your way back. Mmm.

Located at 1347 Danforth Avenue, you better get there quick before all the good stuff is gone (kidding, its ALL good stuff). People have been swooping in from all over the city to check this place out, I think it’s about time you do too!

Much love and praise to Jess for bringing us an absolutely unique boutique straight from the streets of England.
