Feel like getting loose this weekend without indulging in the bottle!? Want to bend over backwards with a group of complete strangers and not think twice about how awkward you look in Downward Dog? Are you interested in moaning in unison with a crowd of high- spirited, granola girls in order to better your personal well- being?
WELL, then Om Toronto, the yogic celebration of the Summer Solstice, is where you NEED to be this Saturday June 21st from 9-5pm. No, not nom nom nom Toronto (although health food trucks will be giving out samples all day), but OMMMMM Toronto, as in that meditation stuff that helps you transcend through chakra’s and have convo’s with the Dalai Lama.. or something…
K, but actually. Om is not just a sound or vibration. It is not just a symbol. It is the entire cosmos, whatever we can see, touch, hear and feel. Moreover, it is all that is within our perception and all that is beyond our perception. It is the core of our very existence. WHY WOULD YOU MISS OUT ON THIS!?
If you ever needed a reason to trek on down to the Distilley District Om T.O is it! Totally free and outdoors (rain or shine) it is definitely worth the bike ride to the East side. Guru’s will be handing out vegan oat bars and fresh squeezed cucumber juice, so get there early to soak up all those good vibes and tasty eats.
Inspired by NYC’s Mind over Madness event, where thousands gather to practice yoga on June 21in Times Square, Om T.O. was created to bring people from all walks of life together with Toronto’s best yoga teachers to celebrate strength of body, mind and community.
Last year, more than 1000 people participated. This year, we hope to get 2000 out and on their mats. I will be one of those people, and I hope to look up from my out-of-shape downward puppy and see you om -ing and yoga- ing with me!
If the idea of flexible men and that feeling that your doing good things for your body isn’t enough, then maybe my CONTEST will convince you!
Just upload your fav. yoga photo on Instagram and tag it with #omto #summersolstice and @thetorontoniangirl for a chance to win:
– B Yoga mat (valued at $85)
– 5 classes at Spynga, the yoga and cycling studio (valued at $100)
– Kashi cereal and granola bars (valued at $10)
OKAY, okay 🙂 So excited, see ya there fellow Om-ers.
