Weekend Inspiration : Photographers Without Borders (PWB)

Tonight I get to cross off yet another unreal life experience from my bucketlist, and will do so with the finest ink pen I can get my hands on (BIC ballpoint).

I finally get to attend a Photographers Without Borders (PWB) gallery exhibition highlighting my dream job AKA the work of 10 talented photographers who have traveled the world volunteering their time and skills to benefit international charities.

This February 20-24, Photographers Without Borders (PWB) celebrates its second magazine launch held at Black Cat Artspace, complete with features speaker and founder Danielle Da Silva, Q&A sessions with PWB’s Toronto-based photographers, meet and greet with the PWB team, a photography exhibit, cash bar, cupcakes and snacks, and daily raffle prizes.

There will also be a silent auction throughout the week for a framed and signed print from the show, with the winner announced on the last day of the exhibition.

You can join PWB for opening night on Friday from 7pm to midnight.

“An image can trigger staggering emotions, memories, and reactions almost instantly, and is one of the most powerful means of communication we use today,” explains Danielle Da Silva, PWB Founder. Photographers Without Borders Magazine and the exhibition are two unique ways PWB helps the public connect with and celebrate the positive work being done around the world by grassroots charities.

PWB seeks to not only donate photography and video to organizations that need it, but to raise awareness of their efforts, expand the narratives about people and places, and shed light on some of the good in our world to widen perspectives. “We launched the organization with the vision to share inspiring stories about people and places everywhere who are doing incredible things,” says Danielle.

  1. This is a beautiful sentiment to an even more important cause. As a student of photography I find it is so rare that we are given avenues to express our knowledge and worldview. Seeing the world through a lens offers a different perspective.
